Im planning to do the Grampians Peak Trail in late September / early Oct, and am soliciting suggestions for an alternative night 3 campsite.

The official Parks Vic site – “Werdug Hike-in Campground” is booked out – and I am wondering if there are any satisfactory free/bush (or paid for that matter) sites in the general vicinity.

This is at about the point the GPT crosses Mt Difficult Rd and Long Gully Creek.

Hey Tony. This might be a bit of a long-shot but on approach to Werdug Hike-in Campground, there used to be a trail that headed east off the escarpment down to plantation Campground (which is free). It is a steep climb down, then back up the following morning. Hopefully the image of the map loads.
