Hike Overview
The Brickfields Track guides you through the historic remnants of a brick-making area that was once part of the short-lived 1840s convict probation station. The trail is a mix of narrow bush track and timber boardwalk, with some steps along the way. It winds from the intersection of Taronga Road and the Channel Highway, connecting to the Alum Cliffs Track.
This 1 km, grade 3 hike in Bonnet Hill, Tasmania, takes about 45 minutes to complete. You can access the Brickfields Track from either Taronga Road (adjacent to the Channel Highway) or from the Alum Cliffs Track. The track can be combined with the Alum Cliffs Track and the Metro bus for a convenient loop from Kingston Beach.
Metro buses run along the Channel Highway, linking Hobart and Kingston. Facilities such as toilets, drinking water, parking, and cafes are available at Kingston Beach, with limited parking at Taronga Road. Additionally, a lookout on the Alum Cliffs Track can be reached from the Brickfields Track in less than 10 minutes, offering stunning views.

Grade 3 (Moderate) - Walks for Most Fitness Levels: Grade 3 on the AWTGS represents moderate walking tracks. These are ideal for walkers with some fitness who are comfortable with some hills and uneven terrain. While suitable for most ages, some bushwalking experience is recommended to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Tracks may have short, steep hill sections, a rough surface, and many steps. The total distance of a Grade 3 walk can be up to 20 kilometers.

Getting there
The Brickfields Track links between Taronga Rd (adjacent the Channel Highway) in Bonnet Hill and links to the Alum Cliffs Track. Access to the track is from either Taronga Rd or from Alum Cliffs Track. Metro run buses along the Channel Highway linking Hobart and Kingston.

Bonnet Hill is a suburb of the greater Hobart area, capital of Tasmania, Australia on the hill of the same name, overlooking Kingston. Bonnet Hill is a popular cycling route. Located on it is the famous Shot Tower. The sides of the hill are riddled with small paths mostly leading to the nearby Kingston Beach.
