The Jim Bacon Memorial Reserve holds a special significance, boasting a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna. Notably, it is home to a significant number of threatened plants and serves as vital habitat for the endangered Swift Parrot, adding to its ecological importance.

Grade 1 (All-abilities) -Â Perfect for Families and Beginners: Grade 1 on the AWTGS represents the easiest walking tracks, perfect for families with young children or those new to bushwalking. No prior experience is required. These gentle walks feature a flat, even surface with no steps or steep sections. They are suitable for wheelchair users with assistance due to the even terrain. The total distance of a Grade 1 walk is typically no greater than 5 kilometers, making them a comfortable and manageable option for all ages and fitness levels.

Nestled within West Moonah, the Jim Bacon Memorial Reserve offers a harmonious blend of expansive parkland and a precious 2-hectare remnant of rare black gum forest. Among its treasures, the reserve shelters a variety of rare plant species, notably the captivating Blue Devil, characterized by its unique prickly foliage with a striking blue hue. Serving as a vital sanctuary for local wildlife, the reserve is particularly significant for the threatened Swift Parrot, among other avian residents.
