Covering 12,367 hectares, the reserve is managed for sustainable timber production while also protecting significant areas of native flora and fauna.

Established in 1909, Mount Crawford Forest has evolved over the decades, with plantation areas replanted following harvesting to ensure ongoing timber supply. The reserve also encompasses 4,440 hectares of native forest, including eight gazetted Native Forest Reserves.
